Q&A

Sunday, October 02, 2016

I am working on a lot of changes for my site. I thought it would be fun to do some q&a's with you guys.
Please answer this Q&A in the comment section below!

My Response:

I would tell teenage Sasha Elizabeth to follow her heart. Never let anyone place their expectations of themselves on you. Often times people like to tell you who to be or what to do. If you want to be a plumber. Do it! Be the best plumber there is! If you want blue hair! Dye your hair blue and slay!!!

I can't begin to tell you how many times someone told me that I shouldn't pursue fashion. I should consider a career that was more stable. I listened and put off really working at what I knew I couldn't go a day without thinking about.
Just the other day, I thought about how creative I am but I don't necessarily use my talent. I draw and do so many other things but I don't put myself out there. From as long as I remember, I've been into fashion and beauty.
As a ;little girl, I loved playing dress up in my grandmother's clothes and shoes. I remember the first time I realized I wanted to design clothes. In junior high, I would sit and sketch clothes in class every day. I watched the style network, fashion shows and played video/computer games that pertained to fashion.
After high school, I went to art school for two years and couldn't finish because it was way too expensive. I became really depressed and thought it was the end of the world. I stopped sewing and drawing. I stopped doing things that I loved. I began to think maybe it was a sign that I should give in,
But here I am at 25, with the same dream, trying! I fell so many times, and made so many mistakes but this is my passion.
I know that I am supposed to design clothes. I know that I am supposed to work for myself. The thing is I have to let go of the fear of failing and stop listening to what people have to say and just do. At least if I fail, I know I tried. Life is about taking risks!

  1. OMG I get everything you're sayin on this post so much. First i think I would say the same thing to my younger self. I had too many people around me growing up, including family members, telling me what I could not do. They still try today actually, only I've stopped listening to that when I realized how much I could have been if I never listen in the first place. People have fears and they try to place their fears in your head but you are stronger than that. I had moments when I doubted myself in what I want to do, I thought about quitting because things weren't happening but I couldn't think about anything else I'd rather do so I kept going. I know good things take demand a lil time and lots and lots of effort and sacrifices.
Something else I've learned is that if you don't believe in something you usually won't get it because subconsciously you won't be fully invested.
Don't be too scared of putting yourself out there. Take a chance on yourself and be the best you can. If you think about it, you probably have more to lose if you don't try.
I wish you all the best Sasha.

    1. Family is definitely the number one candidate when it comes to killing a child's dreams. I wish I stopped listening to people long ago and just believed in myself. Thank you so much for your sweet comment!

  5. What you said, is exactly right! We spend way too much time trying to please others and do what we're "suppose" to do in life. I always encourage others to follow THEIR wishes, hopes & dreams. It's your life! LIVE IT! No one knows you better than YOU!

  9. Great post! When we are younger, we focus on our dreams and sometimes we forget to live the moment and then years go by and we miss many important moments! We must chase our dreams but never forget to live each day, and we must always remember that we have only one life to live, so we must live it well! :)

  12. I totally get where you are coming from but it's a thing of Joy you ve decided to pick yourself back up and continue to do what you've been passionate about since you were a little girl. I also agree life is all about taking risks. If I could tell anything to my younger self is to not listen to people's opinion about myself. What a great. Be you and do you.

  13. Your response is so inspiring, I keep saying it. I wish I listened to my heart when I was much younger rather than doing what others expected of me. But the truth is we all learn from our mistakes.,they have taught me a lot.
